Press Release

New Date for TransLantau: 4-6 March 2022

24 Aug, 2021 (Tue)

Credit : Anthony Tsay With heavy hearts, we must announce the official decision to cancel TransLantau for the second year in a row due to the current pandemic situation and government restrictions. Our team first postponed the event from March to November 2021 in the hope to have the situation improving. However, the Hong Kong government continues to impose restrictions to organize events in country parks and public areas. In particular, the Home Bureau Affair is now involved in the permit delivery and gives the right to announce the permit approval only 10 days before the event date. To organize and coordinate an event such as TransLantau, the team requires a minimum of 4 months, making it impossible to have it happening in November. Our team decided to focus on the 2022 edition, for which we already secured the dates of 4-6 March 2022. The registered participants from 2020 who did not use their discount for TransLantau Hybrid will be able to enjoy a priority registration with their discount for the 2022 edition. We will keep you updated on the registration dates for the 2022 edition. Translantau : Running in the green side of Honk Kong

05 Aug, 2013 (Mon)

§staticmap(13401,5,450,250) Hello, on March 15th 2014, you’ll be organizing the Translantau 100 km. Can you tell us where it is located? The location is on Lantau Island. This is the largest and wildest island in Hong Kong. How old is the race and why was it created in the first place? The race was created in 2012 with 50km only. With the growing demand, we have added for the first time a 100km in 2013. What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it? This is the toughest race in the region with a number of technical sections and a lot of elevation gain. The route is 90% on trails with a start and finish on the beach. Credit : Translantau How many runners do you expect on Saturday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract? We expect 2,000 runners for the whole event for 2014 (1,400 in 2013). The 15km distance is for everyone from hikers to runners, the 50km is challenging so it is for experienced runners and 100km is for advanced runners who must have completed 100km in the past two years. Do you organize other races during the Weekend? If so, on what distances? Yes, our event covers three distances: 15km, 50km and 100km. At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect? Hong Kong has a humid sub tropical climate. Mid-March in Hong Kong is the end of winter and beginning of the wet season. The average temperature is 20/24°C at this period. Credit : Translantau Have you planned festivities around the race? Yes, we have an opening ceremony with a traditional Chinese Lion dance. The race finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Hong-Kong before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing? Hong Kong is well known for its diversity of food and its numerous shopping malls. The race allows the runners to discover the green side of Hong Kong, which represents 50% of the territory. In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of ahotu Marathons to make them register for the Translantau 100 km? Considered unanimously as the toughest race in the region with the most scenic trails with steeps climbs running next to the tallest seated Buddha in the world and remote villages. Credit : Translantau Interview with Clement Dumont & Sabrina Dumont. Clement, the race director who is an avid trail runner (UTMB finisher, Marathon des sables finisher etc…) designed the route for a race that he would love to run. Sabrina, his wife is also a runner who also completed few 100km races is very happy to share her passion with other dedicated runners through this event.
