It will be the 11th edition of the event. Why was it created in the first place?
Our organisation is named: Sport Promotion Diever.
We try to make promotion before our beautiful village end his surrounding. Organizing sport events is our way to interest people to come and enjoy.
What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it?
The track is a route of 10.55km, which has be done four times. It is leading through the forest of our national Park: ‘Drents Friese Woud’.
How many runners do you expect on Saturday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract?
This is one off the smaller events because it is in the evening and in the dutch holiday season, but we hope 500 enthusiastic runners.
Do you organize other races during the Week-End? If so, on what distances?
We do have four distances, 10,5 km, half marathon, 31,5 km and marathon.
At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect?
It is summer, but in the Netherlands you never know what the weather brings. Normally it should be about 20 degrees.
Have you planned festivities around the marathon?
No there are no other festivities.
The marathon finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Diever before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing?
We do want to let the people enjoy of this beautiful part of Holland. Do not just come before the run, but take your family with you and stay for a few days or longer and look around.
In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of ahotu Marathons to make them register for the Midzomeravondmarathon?
I think I’ve already done it in the previous question. I would like just to remind your readers that Diever is a very small village with only 3 500 inhabitants.
Despite that, we don’t limit ourselves to a single marathon in july. We also have one in in December (a cross and the heaviest from Holland) and another one in March (one big round through the National Park).
Where do you find this anywhere else in the world !!
