Results: Jensen, Mitchell claim victories in South Carolina

Marathon results

Bryant Jensen (2:26:17) came in comfortably ahead of a field of more than 1,000 runners to win the 38th annual Kiawah Island Marathon off the coast of South Carolina.
The USATF certified course worked its way through the marshes of Kiawah Island, which is separated from South Carolina by the Kiawah River.
Taking second was Michael Tooley with a time of 2:38:27.
Bryson Smith (2:44:10) finished third.
For the women, it was Caitlin Batten winning her third consecutive race, setting a personal record in the process.
Her time of 2:49:03 was good for eighth overall.
Jennifer Goff earned runner-up honors with a time of 2:55:00.
Vickie Harby (2:58:22) was the only other runner to come in under three hours.

Half Marathon results

Mike Mitchell (1:12:38) cut more than three minutes from his tenth-place finish a year ago to take the top spot in the Kiawah Island Half Marathon.
Just over 2,700 runners completed the course.
Matt Shock (1:14:39) secured second, even though he finished more than two minutes slower than his fourth-place finish a year ago.
Jeffrey Zickus took third with a time of 1:17:21.
For the women, it was Erin Osment (1:16:41) eclipsing the field.
Her time was good for third overall.
Finishing eighth overall and second among the ladies was Lindsay Hodge with a time of 1:19:56.
Last year’s runner-up Alice Rogers rounded out the top three at 1:21:30.
She won it in 2013.
