Top 10 Men

Matela Makhetha (2:28:17) came in seconds ahead of Sufa Chala Damessa (2:28:27) to win the fourth running of the Mandela Day Marathon starting in Imbali, South Africa and ending at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site in KwaZulu-Natal.


Makhetha’s time was just a minute and five seconds off the course record set a year ago.
Nearly 2,000 runners took part in the race through the capital of Pietermaritzburg and the towns of Hilton and Howick.
Sikhumbuzo Seme (2:29:40) finished less than 30 seconds ahead of Tsepang Ramoene (2:30:09) for third.
For the women, it was Selam Abere Alebachew (2:52:28) comfortably in first with a time of 2:52:28.
Immaculate Chemutai (2:59:38) managed to hold off Chelitu Bogale Asefa (2:59:58) to take second.

Top 10 Men

In a tight race at the top, Lucky Mohole (1:05:11) crossed the finish line a few steps ahead of David Manja (1:05:15) to win the Mandela Half Marathon.
More than 2,000 runners made their way from the starting point just east of Hilton to the capture site.
Joel Mohau (1:06:02) came in less than 10 seconds ahead of Lebenya Nkonka (1:06:09) for third.
For the women, it was Jenna Challenor finishing first with a time of 1:19:14.
Janie Grundling (1:21:49) topped Makampong Letsie (1:22:07) by less than 30 seconds to take second.
