Reading Runathon Library 5K

Put down your books and lace up your running shoes! Join San Antonio Public Library for our first ever Reading Runathon Library 5K at McAllister Park on Saturday, September 24th. This FREE 5K is open to all age groups and features a serene, shady course through one of San Antonio's beautiful urban parks. Join other fitness-minded bookworms as we race towards the finish line where the first 200 finishers will collect a custom Reading Runathon finisher medal. Registration

Race Day Packet Pickup will be available under the San Antonio Public Library tent from 6:30 - 7:45 a.m.

Timing

All runner will be chip timed.

Medals and Awards The first 200 finishers will receive a custom San Antonio Public Library 5K finisher medal. There will be no awards for this race.

Parking

Parking is very limited at McAllister Park. There are a few parking areas nearby the starting line location at Pavilion 2, but runners should carpool or rideshare if they can to get as close as possible to the race start point.

There will also be youth soccer and little league games during and after our race, so the park will likely be very crowded.

Lost and Found

Lost and found items will be available at the San Antonio Public Library information tent located on the path near the bathrooms. All items not recovered by the end of the event will be discarded.

Inclement Weather

The Reading Runathon 5K is a rain or shine event. In the event of weather that would risk the safety of our runners, the race will be cancelled. Race cancellation notifications will be delivered to runners via email, posted to this website, and posted to the Library's social media sites.

Strollers and Pets

Both children in strollers and pets are allowed in this race. Pets must remain leashed at all times while at the race site. We ask that runners with leashed pets or strollers stay to the back of the starting corral.
