About the event

The Henry Clay 30K is race number 3 out of 9 in the West Virginia Mountain Bike Association's Cross Country MTB Series. It is also the State Championship MTB race for 2024 and a qualifier for USA Cycling's National Championship race at Bear Creek Resort in PA. 

Each WVMBA Series Race features 3 categories to choose from when selecting your race class. Category selection should be based on fitness, skill, and time to complete the course. 

 Pro/Cat 1 Distances range from 18-24 miles for the seriesCat 2 and E-Bike Distances range from 12-18 miles for the seriesNovice/Beginner range from 5-12 miles for the series

Cat 1/Pro Categories will be racing for $$ for the top 3 positions in all 5 sub categories with equal pay to men's open and women's open. Cat 2, E-Bikes, and Novice riders will be racing for prize table or special awards for top 3 in each sub category at the promoters discretion. 

Podiums will be done for both the overall race participants on the day and a second podium for state championship racers. You must be a West Virginia resident to qualify as a state champion. 

This race is sanctioned by WVMBA and USA Cycling and requires a race license. For WVMBA this is included in the cost of the event and Annual WVMBA members get $5 off their race entries. If you don't have a USA Cycling License you will be charged for a 1 day license, an additional $15. If you plan to purchase an annual WVMBA membership or a USA Cycling License do so before signing up for the race as we will not refund for getting a license after signing up. All Junior, Youth and Just for Fun categories are $30 (+online reg fees) All other classes are $45 (+online reg fees) up until April 27th at 11:59 p.m. WVMBA Annual Members will be $25 and $40 respectively. Starting April 28th (no joke) there will be a $10 increase in registration for all racers until registration closes. Registration closes at 6:00 p.m. Friday April 5th to allow time to submit registrants to our timing company. THERE WILL BE NO DAY OF REGISTRATION FOR THIS RACE.

Course information when available can be found on the WVMBA website under the Henry Clay page when available. There are three distances to choose from depending on your skill and fitness level. If you raced last year they will be the same course for all three distances.
