About the event
The California International Marathon (CIM) is a premier point-to-point race with a fast, net downhill course from Folsom Dam to the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Held annually in early December and hosted by the Sacramento Running Association, CIM is a favorite among athletes seeking Boston Marathon qualifiers or Olympic Trials standards. It is known as “the fastest road to Boston.” The course drops over 300 feet (90 meters) in elevation, making it one of the fastest certified marathons in the U.S., with a strong record of personal bests. With around 10,000 finishers, it ranks among the top ten largest marathons nationwide, offering elite-level race execution with a grassroots feel.
