PaczKi Run

The Run before the big day (Fat Tuesday). Feel better about eating those paczki, or run the route to scout out your favorite place to purchase them. The 5K route winds through Hamtramck, highlighting the city that boasts “the world in 2 square miles.”  After the race, paczek and a beer are served to each finisher. Na Zdrowie! Race Timing Services is providing a B-Tag timing method.

RACE PACKETS:
How do I get my race packet?
All Race Packets are available for pickup at Wheelhouse Detroit’s Hamtramck location at 9401 Joseph Campau.  You can beat the line on race day and pick up your packets a few days early!

Wednesday, February 27; 3PM-7PM
Thursday, February 28; 10AM-2:30PM
Friday, March 1; 10AM-7PM
DAY OF PACKET PICK UP:  7 AM- 9:45AM
Can I pick up packet for a friend?  
YES!  Simply bring a printed copy of their receipt or save a PDF of it on your phone.

Have a friend who has not yet registered?
Registration is available online through February 7, and again on Race day at Better Life Bags; located at 9405 Jos. Campau.

Waiting to until Saturday to pickup your packet?  
Saturday pickup is also available at the same location from 7AM-9:45AM.  We encourage you to come early- the run starts promptly at 10AM.  Come early and grab a coffee at one of the coffee shops nearby!  Our sponsors 1923 Cafe, Oloman Cafe, New Palace Bakery & New Martha Washington Bakery will all be open!

Gently Used Running Shoes for Donation?
Bring them with you when picking up your race packets Thursday-Saturday!  We will be donating shoes to local runners in need.

PARKING:
Where do I park for the event?
The early bird gets the worm! There is limited parking in the lot at the race start, so get there first thing in the AM to secure one of these highly coveted spots. In addition to the lot at the start,  there are several municipal lots located around the city.  Please View the ROUTE MAP to see locations of municipal parking.

Street Parking is always an option! Please note that NO PARKING is allowed along the event route.  Some of the best street parking options are on Jos. Campau south of the race start, and Holbrook west of the race start.  Please be aware that residents have driveways and alleys and access to both of these must remain clear at all times.  Any cars blocking resident drives or alleys will be towed immediately.  

EVENT SCHEDULE
7-9:45 AM- Packet Pick-up at Wheelhouse Detroit; 9401 Joseph Campau, Hamtramck, MI

8 AM- Music starts!  Party begins!

9 AM- Streets Close.  Best to get to the start before 9- You will not be allowed to pass through barricade by car.

9:20 AM- Start lining up for the race on Joseph Campau.  For the safety and improved experience for all runners we encourage you to line up according to your pace.  Runners with a pace of 7 minute miles and faster in the front,10 minutes and faster in middle, slower than 10, walkers & strollers in the rear.  

9:30 AM- Yoga warm up in the street with Iyengar Yoga!

9:45 AM- Weather permitting, Polish Dancers will dance on Joseph Campau in front of the start!

10 AM- RACE STARTS!  

10:30 AM- Results begin to be posted and Award Pick begins at 3401 Jos. Campau

AFTER THE RACE!
Packzi and Beer (if 21) for all runners!  Paczki and a cup of water distributed in the middle of Joseph Campau after the run, beer in the beer tent located in the parking lot at start.  

Make sure you join us at the polka tent and dance to the tunes of our favorite polka band the Misty Blues! PLEASE NOTE- PACZKI IN TENT ARE FOR HAMTRAMCK RESIDENTS AND RUNNER FANS!

Bars, Restaurants and shops will be open and ready for your patronage.  Remember- several are offering “BIB Discounts” to runners, so be sure to show them your BIB when ordering.  A complete list of BIB Discounts will be in your race packets.
