Phnom Penh International Half Marathon

The race management was mostly good. There were water stations every 2 km, all provided in plastic bottles. However, traffic management along the race route was inadequate, causing general vehicles to enter the route and cause collisions with participants.　Traffic was especially heavy on the main street before the finish line, and many runners had to weave through cars.Some runners seemed to have lost their way due to inadequate course guidance in some areas.

There were dogs and cows as well as traffic jams of cars on the route, a typical Cambodian sight. Overall, the course was flat and easy to drive.

Sufficient water supply at each water station. Relatively flat course. Interesting city to travel to. However, safety is an issues as there is no road blockage for runners, you are literally running beside the chaotic traffic. For 21km, there was no clear directions at the last 4km, leaving the last few runners confused as where to go. Flag-off time could be earlier. I was one of the slow runner as I experience knee pain towards the last 6km, by the time I reached the finish point, there wasn't any indication where I can collect the finisher goodies.

The Good: - not over-subscribed so there was no issues of over-crowding. - generous cut-off point - water point is sufficient. - lovely finisher medal - Money goes to charity - Central race-pack pick up point. - The volunteers are helpful The Ok: - Distance marker are there but some are not conspicuous as it's written on the road instead of signage. - Relatively flat course but nothing much interesting sights. - Shirt fitting could be better The Bad: - For 21km, first 13km was good until runners merged with 10km 'runners' at road leading to the riverside. There was no road closure, so I was running alongside the chaotic incoming traffic while ensuring my safety; this was made worst when the 10km runners are just walking and jamming up spaces, taking selfies while being oblivious to the surrounding. - Late flag-off timing for 21km - 5:15am - If you're a slow-runner (sub 2:30 and longer), the remaining 4-5km was chaotic as the direction signages got even less obvious - no road closures as well; you are running in traffic. Safety is an issue if you're sub 3:00 runner.

2 days stay here is enough, 1 day for trip and another for marathon . I suggest you stay in a hotel close to Royal Palace .

Though just be about 400 runners of 21 km. but anything is smoothly and half route near river, with windy.

Nice route and I join 21km this time, while during the running can view the city view in a peace pace in the early morning.

every 3-5 km there is a water station, and around 18km have first aid that offer the spray to relieve the muscle

This was my first ever half marathon - glad I was able to complete. Would have appreciated if they officially announce the timings of all finishers.

I never bargained for the impact on me for trying the half marathon without any training - what a feeling when i completed

Nice event with cheerful people and interesting location. Restrooms and cold water would be helpful and the last 2 miles of the half marathon was confusing. Also why can’t you post results in a timely manner?

Weather was great very manageable with water and pacing

Thankful for the Police Officers and Traffic Marshals to manage traffic for safe running. A great route to see Phnom Penh. The hydration stations folks were kind to hand out bottled mineral water saving precious time. Apt to start and finish at The Royal Palace. The field size is comfortable to run safe. Blessing to have a cool morning to enjoy the race!👍👍

Love the Japanese Bridge at 4.2km and 12.3km for the kicks! Not forgetting the tease of Swan Bridge at 18km!💪

Well designed route through the city of Phnom Pen with a bit of elevation via a bridge connecting the 2 sides of the city.

Like to run the half marathon distance when traveling to other countries or full marathon distances.

well organized event from start to finish, enough water stations, with stand by medics and police / traffic enforcers

Great event and very well organised

the event really good. the runners not so crowded, the police is responsible for traffic control and also have many water stand.

10 km is suitable for every one.

The running part was well despite the ankle pain at the 7th KM. Yet, the organizing part needs improvement for next year: lack of water and aids for the runners, not to mention the medals shortage for the finishers.

A generally good event. Lots of drink stations. A good route and a really nice start/finish location. Only downside was a 4km section where traffic management failed .
