ATW Big East & Maldon Triathlon

The Big East & Maldon Triathlon offers a superb afternoon race experience designed by triathletes, for triathletes. Organized by the UK’s largest triathlon provider, this inclusive event caters to a wide range of athletes with Middle Distance, Standard, and Sprint Triathlon options—plus Aquabike and Relay formats. The flagship Middle Distance race features a 1.5km tidal river swim, an 86km scenic road cycle, and a 20km multi-terrain run. Those seeking shorter challenges can opt for the Standard (1500m / 40km / 10km) or Sprint (750m / 25km / 5km) distances. Non-runners can tackle the Aquabike format (swim + bike), and teams of 2–3 can compete in the Middle Distance Relay. Timed to coincide with high tide, the race begins at 12:10 pm with registration opening at 10:30 am. A 1-hour 10-minute swim cut-off and an 8.5-hour total time limit ensure safety and daylight finishes. Post-race, athletes are encouraged to stay, relax, and celebrate with the community.
