Chief's Champions 5K

The Chief's Champions 5k is an annual road race and 1 mile walk that takes place in Sunbury, Ohio. This year, we are excited to move to a new location at Sunbury Christian Church (in previous years, our race was held at General Rosecrans Elementary).  In addition to a new location, this year's race will also have virtual race options (virtual 5K and virtual 1 mile) for those who cannot attend on race day but would still like to support our mission.

Our Story

In 2017, Jeff Wilson, Chief of BST&G Fire Department was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain tumor. The local community rallied together, and the first Chief's Champions 5k was held to raise money to support his fight against the disease. Sadly, Jeff lost his battle in June 2018, but the Chief's Champions 5k continues to be held in his memory, and with a new mission--to help find a cure. Funds raised will be given to OhioHealth Research Institute to support clinical trials that focus on brain tumors and treatment. All donations are also tax deductible.
