About the event
The Crim Festival of Races is one of the Midwest’s premier running events, centered around its legendary 10-mile race known simply as “The Crim.” Held every August in Flint, Michigan since 1977, it features multiple race options—including a 10 Mile, 5 Mile, 5K, Michigan Mile Series, and Special Olympics events—drawing around 50,000 participants and spectators annually. The 10 Mile course is known for its Bradley Hills, the blue line guiding runners through Flint’s neighborhoods, and a reputation for drawing elite athletes from across the globe. Originally created as a fundraiser for Special Olympics, the event has evolved into a full community fitness festival, but its core mission—promoting health, inclusion, and local pride—remains intact. The Crim’s original noon start time in 1977 was meant to make it harder—embracing August heat as part of the challenge.
