Experience the highest mountain face in Europe! Run the Monterosa Est Himalayan Trail race, which challenges runners over steep and technical terrain with distances of 103km, 60km, 38km, 22km and 14km. Macugnaga, an Italian mountain village located at 1327 meters altitude in the Valle Anzasca, is the beautiful alpine town at the base of the east wall of Monte Rosa. This area has a rich history, beginning in the twelfth century when the Walser, an Albanian-speaking people from the Valais, settled there. The Walser culture is still evident today, both in the traditional architecture and in the costumes of the village's women. Even the Titsch language, spoken by the elderly, is still heard in Dorf, a settlement dating back to 1200 A.C, where you can find the ancient secular “Tiglio” tree. Taking part in this trail will be a unique opportunity to get up close to a piece of Alpine history.
