About the event

To be clear, in light of recent BWR and UCI policy updates: Brazen Dropouts respects trans athletes and their human right to participate in sport. Women's categories of course include trans women, femme, and non-binary riders. Men's categories include trans men. Hate and hate/exclusive speech will not be tolerated at Brazen Dropouts events. Keep local racing safe. Athletes, please come to Anne Schwarzwalder ([email protected]) with any concerns or requests on how we can ensure the New Glarus Road Race lives up to this promise.

We are thrilled to be back hosting the New Glarus Road Race in 2023!

We will be running the race in two waves, with 4 minute gaps between starting groups in each wave. The start time listed is when the first wave in each group will go. All races stage right in front of the New Glarus Middle School.

After staging, there will be announcements from the officials, and then each race will head up the neutral section to the start of the lap. The neutral section goes up this hill on the way to the start. It's a big hill! It's not part of the race! Take it easy, even if the pace car gets a little ahead of you.

Podiums and prizes will be distributed down at the Middle School, where registration is. We will do podiums as soon as possible after we have final race results, so if you think you podiumed, please stick around there. We transmit results via cell service, and service is a little spotty out in the country where the finish line is, so please be patient as we get results figured out! Podiums are 5 deep (3 for juniors). Also, of note: the title of “State Champion” is for the first person in each race who 1) holds an annual USAC license (aka not a one-day license) and 2) has a Wisconsin address listed on their USAC license. This only affects medals, not prize payouts!

The race is rain or shine, but if there's lightning, we will postpone.

The Feed Zone is on Meadow Valley, a little before the finish line:

Also, a heads up on course conditions:

The roads are open, and the center line rule is in effect all the way around the course. There is a lead vehicle for each field.

There are two gravel strips cut across the County Highway N, in the first rollers section. They're relatively smooth, and signed with “BUMP”, but please be aware of these, especially while in a large group:

The good news is that the highways department is repaving County Highway N right after the road race, so next year should be really nice!
