About the event
Gear up for the 40th annual New York City Duathlon at Central Park, where athletes will experience the breathtaking beauty of the park in full bloom. The race kicks off at 7:30 am by Central Park Boat House parking lot, the designated Transition area.Prepare for a dynamic run-bike-run challenge:
- The first run spans 2.2 miles in an out-and-back format. Runners will navigate along the east side, turning around at 96th street, with a notable ascent up Cat Hill.
- The bike segment covers two loops of the park's drive, totaling 10 miles. Due to construction in Harlem, cyclists will bypass Harlem Hill, instead looping through the 102nd St Traverse on the west side. Expect a 250ft elevation gain per loop with some rolling hills.
- The final run mirrors the first, another 2.2 miles to the finish.
No USAT license is required to participate, providing a welcoming atmosphere for all levels. Volunteers play a crucial role, with shifts from 5:00 am to 11:00 am. Upon arrival, check in with Race Directors George or Hunter for assignments. Commitment to your role ensures you earn and can transfer a free race credit for future events.
Join fellow athletes in this iconic race through one of the world's most renowned city parks.
