Running Wild Trail Run

Gear up for the TWELFTH edition of the Running Wild 7K Trail Run and 1-mile LIFE Hike! Held at the stunning Maplewood State Park, this event benefits Health Resources of Fergus Falls. Tackle the diverse and challenging northwest Minnesota terrain with options for a 7K trail run or a 1-mile LIFE Hike. Bring the family along as there's something for everyone, including a Kid's Run WILD 200-yard dash for ages 5-7 and a Wee Run WILD for kids 4 and under.The 7K course features rugged paths, numerous mini-hills, a gravel road, moderately challenging inclines, and the intense Ironwood Trail Hill. If you're strolling, the 1-mile LIFE Hike follows an out-and-back path. Enjoy more than 9,000 acres of tree-covered hills, lakes nestled in valleys, hardwood forests, wildflowers, diverse wildlife, and 25 miles of lush hiking trails. Ready to test your limits or simply savor nature's beauty? This is the event for you!

Athletes can pick up their race packets pre-race or on race day at specified times and locations. The event offers multiple start times: Kid’s Run WILD at 9:00 a.m., Wee Run WILD at 9:05 a.m., 7K Trail Run at 9:40 a.m., and 1M LIFE Hike at 9:45 a.m. Post-run, celebrate with finisher medals, unique awards like Maplewood State Park maple syrup for top athletes, and age division recognitions across various categories.

The course is marked with red flags and signs, with caution advised due to rocky and uneven terrain, especially near the finish. Stay hydrated at three water stops placed strategically on the 7K route. First aid stations are available, along with an onsite EMT and AED for safety.

Parking is included with registration, but spaces are limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Headphones are permitted on the course, but for safety, strollers and pets are not. Restrooms and changing facilities are conveniently located, ensuring a seamless racing experience. Capture memories at the Selfie Station and soak in the park's natural beauty with a post-race swim or picnic.
