Sandhills Trail & Ultra Festival Sesquicentennial State Park - Columbia Sc  A course with a bit of everything   Welcome to the Annual Year of the Sandhills Trail & Ultra Festival that will be held at this urban State Park in Columbia South Carolina! Sesquicentennial State Park is a state park located in Columbia, South Carolina. It covers an area of over 300 acres and features various recreational opportunities, including hiking, fishing, picnic areas, and a lake for boating. The park is known for its scenic beauty, with dense forests, streams, and wetlands making up much of its terrain. Sesquicentennial State Park was established in 1993 to commemorate South Carolina's 150th anniversary of statehood, and it remains a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.   Sesquicentennial State Park features a network of hiking trails that offer visitors a chance to explore the park's diverse landscapes and wildlife. The trails vary in length and difficulty, ranging from short, easy walks to longer, more strenuous hikes. Some of the trails follow the streams and wetlands, providing opportunities for bird-watching and other wildlife viewing, while others wind through the dense forests and offer scenic views of the surrounding landscape. In addition to hiking trails, the park also has a number of bridle trails for horseback riding. Overall, the trail system at Sesquicentennial State Park offers a variety of options for visitors looking to enjoy the park's natural beauty and recreation opportunities.   Upstate Race Series - Upcoming Events HERE Join us for one of our 30 events throughout the year. We have events that offer opportunity to every level of runner looking to take on their next challenge!   Donations & Club Membership Discount - 15% OFF All club memberships to the Upstate Running Club and/or the South Carolina Ultra Marathon Club fund the Upstate Running Club Youth Team with over 200 members. The club provides FREE training services, training equipment, race uniforms, and comped race entries to our series throughout the year. The terrain consist of clean single track trails, wider softer trails, and some paved sections around the lake. The looped course runs through the parking lot so runners will be able to set up a 10 x 10 space for the duration of the event.    Participants Receive Finisher Medal Custom Race Logo Sticker Upstate Ultra Sticker Camping is offered through the park Complimentary Race Photos Custom Race Bib Upstate Race Series Crew Socks   Timing, Race Awards, & Results Top 3 Male and Female will receive a custom hand made award! Each finisher will receive a finisher medal that will be branded with the race logo and custom lanyard. This event will be chip timed with a reusable timing chip attached with an ankle strap. The timing chip will correspond with your bib number at packet pickup. The chip will be read by our timing hardware at the finish line and timing software. Results will be updated online periodically throughout the event. Please return your timing chip & strap at the conclusion of your event.  We will also publish our age group results that will coincide with our Race Series. If you have a state park pass you do not have to pay that fee. Sesquicentennial State Park is located: 9564 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 29223. Once you enter the park you will drive all the way to the lake parking lot where we will be staging our event at Shelter/Picnic area #1 right on the lake. There is a small sidewalk that leads up to the shelter from the parking lot and the course will run right in front of the shelter along the lake!    Aid Station We will have an aid station at the start/finish line. Items may include: pickles, cookies, chips, Little Debbie snacks, assorted candy, chicken/veggie broth, fig newtons, & pretzels. Liquids will include water, Tailwind Nutrition, coke, and ginger ale. If you would like to donate an aid station supply of something that we do not offer or that is homemade feel free!  Cup-less Event: Please provide your own hydration vessel for use at our aid stations    Personal Tent Set Up
If you are not getting a campsite we are going to set you up adjacent to the dog park at the retreat center which was the old location for our start/finish line. These runners may set up here but you will need to make your way to the starting line prior to the race start which is located adjacent to the lake at the boathouse and shelter/picnic #1. Please be mindful to place your personal belongings off the course as to not impede the runners, the flow of traffic, or other race participants. The start and finish line loop will serve as the official drop bag area designation. When you are finished with your race please "pack in and pack out" making the host facility look better than you found it.

 

Meal Options Upstate Race Series will be offering a meal options for runners looking to grab some grub post run! Every meal will come in a traditional southern meat and three style w/ a beverage. We will not be selling meal tickets on race day due to pre-ordering enough supplies for our event staff, volunteers, and the runners who pre-ordered a meal. If you would like to purchase multiple meals for yourself, your crew, or spectators please indicate the number in the quantity box. A meal cost $7.50 during registration. Specifically for Sandhills we will be serving late lunch / early dinner from 1pm to 5pm   Camping Reservations & Admissions - HERE The course will run right through both campsite locations! Sesquicentennial State Park, affectionately known to locals as "Sesqui," is a spacious, green getaway in the heart of the Sandhills region. With Camping and Day Use rentals available, a stay at Sesqui is enjoyable. Any participants that are unable to attend, their registration will be donated to our Youth Running Program that offers free training services and racing opportunities for over 200 kids in the upstate.
