The Mighty Mosquito is Western NY’s only 99 mile trail run and relay. Run this challenging scenic route on your own, or team up with friends! The course consists of 3 unique loops on the beautiful trails of Mendon Ponds Park, running each loop 6 times. Camp at the start/finish line while you wait for your teammates and enjoy everything that summer at Mendon Ponds has to offer.

WHEN: Solo runners begin at 6:00am, Relay teams begin at 12:00pm. All runners must be finished by 12:00pm on August 9.
WHERE: All loops begin and end at the Canfield Woods Shelter at Mendon Ponds park.
AMENITIES: -plenty of parking at the Beach Lot -park bathrooms available for the duration of the event -camping allowed in the area surrounding the shelter
Solo Runners
Solo runners are welcome!
Solo runners begin at 6am with a 30-hour time cap. A fully stocked aid station will be provided at the start/finish line.
Pacers welcome.
Solo runners finishing under the 30-hour time cap will be awarded with a beautiful Mighty Mosquito belt buckle.
Solo runners will complete 6 laps of loop 1, followed by 6 laps of loop 2 and finishing with 6 laps of loop 3.
Solo Cutoffs: start lap 6 by 7:00pm, start lap 12 by 5:00am, final cut off at 12:00 (must start final lap by 10:30am).
Relay Teams
Relay teams consist of up to 6 team members. All relay teams start at 12:00pm with a 24-hour time cap.
Teammates will complete 6 laps of loop 1, followed by 6 laps of loop 2 and finishing with 6 laps of loop 3.
All relay teams are required to provide a volunteer! (see below)
The aid station is for solo runners only please.
Relay Cutoffs: start lap 6 by 7:00pm, start lap 12 by 5:00am, finish by noon.
Course
The course consists of 3 loops, each of which will be run 6 times.
Loop 1: 5.5 miles / 900' gain. Loop 2: 5.5 miles / 300' gain. Loop 3: 5.5 miles / 600' gain. You can see a course map here
Our solo runners get an special extra short loop to complete their 100 miles and earn their belt buckle!
Solo
Volunteers
This is a large event that spans more than 24 hours. As a result, volunteers are critical to keep all runners safe and on course and to help the event run as smoothly as possible.
*All relay teams, regardless of size, are required to bring 1 volunteer who is available for the duration of the event*
Volunteers will be on a schedule, and that schedule will be published in advance so everyone is on the same page. Number of shifts and length of shifts will vary depending on the number of teams we get. Duties include but are not limited to: road crossing marshals, directing runners on course, solo aid station & more.
