About the event

Runtalya Marathon is held each March and is renowned for being a great holiday destination for athletes. Runners love the course for its flat and fast terrain as well as its stunning views of the old city and Antalya's world-famous beach. The event began in 2015 as the Runtalya International Antalya Marathon, with 850 participants, in order to make a difference in Turkish tourism and promote winter tourism. Every year, the event has grown in popularity and now attracts people from all over the world. After 2015, it was taken over by Turset Project Management and renamed Runtalya. Runtalya Marathon has become a staple in the country's and city's tourism industry, offering opportunities to both amateur and professional runners alike. It is also a great way to kick off the season, with its three-day-long festival filled with additional activities and entertainment.

I ran 10 km, I was 15th. This distance is for young runners - not fast and not slow, normal ))

Although the weather in Antalya is not really warm in March, it is much more comfortable than the climatic conditions in Central Europe. Also at this time in the year it is possible to walk through the old town, through the large shopping centers and along the nice pathes at the coast without being trampled down by streams of tourists. This makes Runatolia marathon very attractive for those who want to start early in the year. And there are some other reasons why you should take into account to run in Antalya - especially the very good organisation and the fact that you get a lot for your money. Besides the marathon itself they give you a medal, a shirt, a nice backpack and a pasta party where you can eat as much as you like - all that for about 14€ (in 2019) if you book early. The course itself is not too attractive. It gives you some nice views to the seaside and to the hills in the background, but most of the time you run between houses which are not really interesting. And the course contains mean uphill passages on the way back to the finish line (in total about 150 meters of difference in altitude), which may cost you some minutes. However, there is no motor traffic on the course, and the marathon runners may start 15 minutes before the start of the half marathon, so that both groups do not disturb each other. All in all Runtalia marathon is a very good choice for those who like to flee from the winter and to visit a modern city with friendly people and combine all this with a well organized run.
