About the event
The Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, is the oldest annual marathon in the world and a crown jewel of global distance running. First held in 1897, it’s now one of the World Marathon Majors and takes place each Patriots’ Day, the third Monday of April. The point-to-point course starts in Hopkinton and winds through eight Massachusetts towns before finishing on Boylston Street in Boston. Entry is limited to qualified runners, charity entrants, and elite athletes, making it one of the most competitive and iconic marathons in existence. Runners face rolling hills—including the infamous Heartbreak Hill—cheered on by half a million spectators, from Wellesley’s scream tunnel to the electric final stretch. Managed by the Boston Athletic Association, the marathon open to both professionals and amateurs alike.

You know a marathon is special when the temperatures are hovering around freezing, the rain is pouring down, the headwind is 20+ mph, and all you can feel is the energy of the manic crowd cheering you on.

Amazing experience. So many spectators pushing so hard. Perfect organization. Every runner wants to do that one.

Loved this off-schedule Boston Marathon!
Everyone Marathoner dreams of this race. I certainly ran this race with lots of emotions. By far one of the greatest races I ever ran.
The greatest and best marathon in the world. From the moment my first flight en route to Boston was cancelled to arriving in a freezing Beantown at 12:30am the morning of the event to completing ( in the most brutal conditions ) this iconic marathon is something I will cherish for the rest of my days 😁😀
