Generoso Trail

The Generoso Trail is a high-intensity mountain run that takes participants from the city of Mendrisio to the summit of Monte Generoso at 1,704 meters. Spanning 12 kilometers with 1,437 meters of vertical gain, this race is designed for climbers and trail runners who relish steep gradients and panoramic rewards. After a short stretch of city asphalt, runners transition quickly to mountain trails, climbing through forested paths and alpine terrain. The finish line sits at the summit’s Stone Flower, a striking architectural landmark designed by Mario Botta, where runners are greeted with 360-degree views of the Alps, Apennines, Lake Lugano, and the Po Valley. This eco-conscious race emphasizes sustainability with digital race packets and contributes to the ASTi Trail Cup, making it a key date on the regional trail calendar. A festive lunch and awards ceremony cap off the ascent at the summit’s panoramic terrace.
