If you have ever dreamed of completing a 'Paradise Marathon', the Pursuit In Paradise BSP Aitutaki Marathon held annually in the Cook Islands on the picturesque island of Aitutaki is the perfect event for you! In May 2018, marathon runners from around the world, including Germany, Netherlands, Scotland, Italy, Austria, United States, New Zealand and Australia, as well as local Cook Island runners, gathered at the first Aitutaki Marathon. Even world record holder Brent Weigner was in attendance, marking the 156th country in which he has run a marathon, and his 325th marathon overall.The BSP Aitutaki Marathon will be held again in 2021 and we believe it will become a popular event for marathon lovers from around the world. To kick off the event, on Monday 22 March, a pasta dinner and race briefing will be held for all runners and supporters. Tuesday 23 March is race day and complimentary buses will be available to transport participants to the start line. After the race, there will be complimentary coconut juice, water, light snacks and tropical fruit for all runners and supporters. Wednesday 24 March is a lagoon/rest day followed by the official prize giving dinner and entertainment.
