About the event

The Ljubljana Marathon, the largest running event held in Slovenia, is renowned for its attractive course, which winds through the streets of Ljubljana. Since its inception in 1996, the event has grown in popularity and now draws participants from over 60 countries. In 2018, a total of 20,000 runners came to compete in the marathon (42km) and half marathon (21km), as well as recreational runs of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty. There is also a 10k race, a 5k fun run, the Lumpi childrens run, and a half-marathon handcycling race, so that runners of all ages and fitness levels can find something suitable.

Results 2016: Ljubljana Marathon

Credit : Matej Kolakovic The capital city of slovenia hosted its annual marathon last sunday. Here are the results. Marathon Laban Mutai took top honors by finishing the race in 02:09:16. Philip Sanga Kimutai earned runner-up honors with a time of 02:09:19. Finishing third was Levi Omari Matebo (02:09:37). For the women, it was Purity Changwony who took the top spot in 02:29:32 , followed by Shasho Insermu who finished with a time of 02:30:53. Rounding out the top three was Beshadu Bekele Bedane with a time of 02:31:05. Top 5 Men Top 5 Women Complete results Half Marathon Peter Lamovec took top honors by finishing the race in 01:07:51. Coming in second was Rok Puhar (01:07:57). Domen Hafner (01:09:29) made notched third place. For the women, Sonja Roman took top spot in 01:17:50 , followed by Danijela Kuna who finished with a time of 01:19:18. Bakonyi Fruzsina got the third place in 01:22:02.
