About the event

Join us on Sunday, 8/27 from 8 am - 12 pm as Fleet Feet will be hosting our second 4-hour run/walk challenge at the Shoppes at South Hills Shopping Center.  This will be a professionally timed event however runners and/or walkers of all paces and abilities are welcome. We have a 1ish mile looped mapped out and participants can come and do as many or as few loops/laps as they would like. This event is a fundraiser for one of our former employees, Scott Jordan, who is currently battling stage 4 Non- Small Cell Lung Cancer.  Please read more about Scott's story below and thank you in advance for helping to support this event.

The cost to participate is $25 and $15 from each registration will be donated directly to Scott Jordan and his family.  Additionally, Fleet Feet will be donating $1 for every single lap or loop (approx. 1 mile) that is completed during the challenge.  Let's commit to completing those laps and increasing the size of Fleet Feet's donation.  Participants will receive a custom Run, Fight, Repeat race bib, professional timing during the event, as well as a custom Run, Fight, Repeat t-shirt or tank (Ladies).

Scott's Story:
Scott Jordan, a dad of two, an active and healthy runner, and a former Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie employee, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer this past April. Scott had signed up to participate in the 2023 New York City marathon just a month before his diagnosis. Despite having never smoked, Scott was handed this devastating diagnosis after developing a persistent cough that was originally attributed to pneumonia but didn't resolve as it should have. He has had four rounds of extremely aggressive chemotherapy along with two rounds of immunotherapy and this treatment is expected to continue for up to a year. The treatments are extremely expensive and Scott and his family could really use our community's support as they fight this battle.

Registration is online only and capped at 150 participants.  Runners & walkers of all paces are encouraged including first-timers.

Bib/Shirt Pickup:
Saturday 8/26: 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday 8/27: 7:15-7:45 am

An email will be sent to all participants on Friday 8/25 with additional details about the event including SWAG pickup and other pertinent details.  Please be sure that you are registering with a valid email address, that you check, or you will risk missing important communications.

FAQs:
Is there a minimum age to participate?
While there is no minimum age to participate, parents should be aware that this event will take place around the Shoppes at South Hills Shopping Center which is open to traffic.  Please use your best judgment when registering minors for this event.

Are strollers allowed?
We ARE able to accommodate strollers at this event, however, we ask that extreme caution is used particularly on the downhill portion of the run.  Please leave adequate space between your stroller and other runners.

Do you have a course map?
The specifics of the loop (which is entirely within the Shoppes at South Hills Shopping Center) will be sent to all participants on 8/25.

I signed up but can't attend, can I transfer my registration or get my money back?
Since this is a timed event, bib transfers are not allowed but all registered participants will be able to pick up their SWAG bags regardless of whether or not they actually run.  We are unfortunately unable to offer refunds as shirts and other items have already been purchased.

What if the weather is bad?
The event will happen rain or shine and we would only not run or delay the start time if there were dangerous conditions such as thunder & lightning.  Any updates due to weather considerations will be sent to all participants via email.

What if I miss the event, can I pick up my SWAG after?
Yes, you can, anytime during normal business hours.  We just ask that you please pick it up before August 31st when everything will be purged.

Where do the race fees go?  Does this event raise money for something?
This specific event is raising money for our former employee Scott Jordan.  $15 from every registration will be donated.  Fleet Feet will also be donating $1 per lap/loop completed during the 4-hour event.

Do you still have a question?  Please email us at [email protected] or by clicking the "QUESTIONS?" button on this page.  Someone will get back to you in a very timely manner.  This method of communication is preferred vs. calling the store as our fitters are usually busy assisting customers and most are not well versed in the specifics of every event.
