The race series is proud to establish one of the most difficult and scenic road challenges in the southeast. This year we bring to you our Annual Altamont Challenge. This course that is nestled in the foothills and based in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. The heart of the Foothills was originally home to several Indian tribes, including the Catawba, the Creek, and the Cherokee. Travelers Rest gained notoriety as a stopover for weary travelers and livestock drovers. Travelers Rest boasts a colorful history dating back to America's early years. You will have the opportunity to summit the top of Greenville County near Paris Mountain to look over the entire Upstate! This race will be scenic, fun, and rewarding to all finishers! Come and see if you can overcome the ultimate Altamont challenge!

Altamont Course Description Course Map HERE - Elevation Gain - 1875 Feet This half marathon route is an out and back on one of the most scenic and difficult races in the Upstate. The race starts from Poinsett Park and runs down Frontage Road to Altamont Road. From there you will stay on the same road all the way to the Audubon loop before turning back up Altamont and back to Poinsett Park Aid Station There is one aid station at the turnaround point at 6.5 miles. The Aid station will include such items: salt, crackers, cookies, pickles, oranges, water , tailwind, and soda. This is a CUPLESS event as runners are required to have their own hydration carrying bottles or packs. We gladly accept aid station donations of food items that you like to see at races. Our staff is very busy with course marking, timing, packet pickup, and communication with runners, that it does make it hard to prepare some amazing tasty treats in-between laps so feel free to contribute a little slice of heaven if you can! Thank you Eco-Standard In an effort to be good stewards to mother nature we will not have any of the following items at ANY of our events. This is in an effort to reduce the carbon footprint being placed by endurance events throughout the world. Please have a cup or hydration bottle if you will need to consume water/nutrition during the event. Please bring your own fork/spoon for any post race meals. Please bring your own bags for items collected at the race.
